The “Echoes of an Island Dream” Series
Fragments of an island, gathered in paint.
Echoes of an Island Dream is a collection of remembered moments carried by salt air, trade winds, and the stories of island life. The series moves between memory and imagination, drawing from the quiet rituals, familiar scenes, and cultural rhythms that shape the Caribbean experience.
Each work feels like a glimpse, a passing sail along the West Coast, the motion of flying fish, the concentration of a domino table, the early hour of fishermen preparing for the sea. These are not simply scenes of Barbados; they are echoes of a place constantly shifting between beauty, labour, leisure, inheritance, and dream.
Through expressive colour, layered texture, and movement, I capture the island as something both intimate and mythic. The paintings hold the warmth of nostalgia while resisting the stillness of postcard imagery. They invite the viewer to feel the pulse beneath the landscape — the human presence, the history, the ceremony, the quiet poetry of everyday life.
Created as a boutique collection for the Blue Monkey Hotel & Beach Club, Echoes of an Island Dream speaks to the Caribbean as remembered, lived, and imagined — a place where every horizon carries a story, and every moment leaves a trace.
"The Fisherman's Hour" from the Series "Echoes of an Island Dream" | 48" x 48" | Acrylic on Canvas | BBD$12,000.00/USD$6,000.00 | "The Fisherman’s Hour" captures the sacred early rhythm of men, boats, and sea — that quiet moment before the day begins, when labour, memory, and tradition move together. Through expressive colour and layered movement, a familiar coastal scene is transformed into a tribute to the dignity of work and the timeless relationship between Caribbean people and the water.
"The Next Move" From the Series "Echoes of an Island Dream" | 48" x 36" | Acrylic on Canvas | BBD$10,000.00/USD$5,000.00 | *The Next Move* captures a quiet moment of strategy, fellowship, and island rhythm — that familiar pause around a domino table where thought, gesture, and culture meet. The scene is less about the game itself and more about the energy surrounding it: the waiting, the watching, the unspoken confidence before the next play. Through softened architecture, expressive colour, and layered movement, the work turns an everyday Caribbean moment into a reflection on community, memory, and the subtle theatre of deciding what comes next.
"Dance of the Flying Fish" from the Series "Echoes of an Island Dream" | 36".x 36" | Acrylic on Canvas | BBD$9,000.00/USD$4,500.00 | *Dance of the Flying Fish* captures the fleeting rhythm and movement of one of the Caribbean’s most iconic sights — a moment where sea, light, and motion seem to move as one. The work is less about literal depiction and more about the feeling of the island in motion: freedom, energy, and the quiet poetry carried on salt air and water. Through expressive colour and sweeping gesture, the painting becomes a celebration of both nature and memory.
"Platinum Passage" from the Series "Echoes of an Island Dream" | 36" x 36" | Acrylic on Canvas | BBD$9,000.00/USD$4,500.00 | *Platinum Passage* captures the soft luxury of sailing along Barbados’ West Coast — where palm shadows, turquoise water, and open horizon drift into one quiet rhythm. The work speaks to movement, escape, and the dreamlike calm of the Platinum Coast. Through expressive colour and fluid gesture, the scene becomes less about a single view and more about the feeling of passing through light, sea, and memory.
